This week, Samsung Display revealed that it has started mass manufacturing 90 Hz OLED screens for laptops. These screens will make their debut in certain of ASUS’ forthcoming Zenbook and Vivobook Pro models, providing not just outstanding image quality and deep blacks, but also smoother-looking motion. Samsung’s industry-first 16-inch 4K OLED screens are also available in certain Zenbook and Vivobook Pro models.
Release of Information
Samsung Display said today that it has begun mass-producing its 90Hz refresh rate laptop OLED screens, which are included in the new ASUS Zenbook and Vivobook Pro 14-inch models. Both laptops can handle a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.
The refresh rate refers to how many times per second a display displays a new picture. A display with a 90Hz refresh rate may show 90 still pictures per second. Smoother motions on a display are made possible by a faster refresh rate. However, a faster refresh rate necessitates a larger graphics card and consumes more energy, so it isn’t always the best option.

An OLED screen reacts considerably quicker than an LCD panel and may provide a more natural-looking picture with a lower refresh rate. According to Samsung Display’s internal testing, the 90Hz OLED panel has a blur length of 0.9mm in video playback, which is a 10% improvement over a 120Hz LCD panel’s blur length. When viewing videos, a shorter blur duration implies less motion blur and crisper movement.
Y, vice general manager of ASUS’s PC BU product marketing center, stated, “Demand for laptops is constantly rising as working from home and remote learning become the new standard.” Chen, C. “When people use laptops for education, virtual meetings, video streaming, gaming, and other things, OLED screens may fulfill their needs.”
With the industry continuing to expand, Samsung Display has been providing OLED panels to major laptop makers such as ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and Samsung Electronics.
“Consumers who want to watch high-performance entertainment on their laptops have additional choices with the 90Hz OLED panel,” Samsung Display stated. “We are further pioneering and dominating the industry in display technologies that provide better picture quality with our revolutionary OLEDs.”
ASUS’ Zenbook and Vivobook Pro models include Samsung Display’s industry-first high resolution 4K OLEDs in bigger 16-inch screens, in addition to the 14-inch 90Hz OLED displays. Samsung Display is expanding its OLED laptop range with a choice of sizes and enhanced performance.
