20 Most Iconic Animals & Pets in Anime –

Anime has been a part of popular culture for decades now, and many people have seen their favorite characters from anime. In this article, we will be discussing the most iconic animals and pets that have appeared in anime.

The top 100 favorite animals is a list of the top 20 most iconic creatures in anime.

Animals are wonderful.

They improve life and, in certain cases, make it more hazardous. They do, however, provide something unique to anime that no one else can.

They may be cute, cool, or anthropomorphic, and they can be interesting stand-out characters in any group of characters.

This list, on the other hand, will concentrate on some of the greatest animals from various anime series. Some of them are simply mascots, while others are pivotal characters in the narrative.

But they all have one thing in common: they’re all very memorable, and I feel thrilled whenever I see them on television.

20. Puar

Puar from Dragon Ball anime

Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.

Puar earned a spot on this list since they and Yamcha are one of my favorite Dragon Ball duos.

They’re entertaining, and their shape-shifting ability was something I was always attracted to as a kid, leading me to like the idea to this day.

Despite the fact that they play a little role in the series’ battles, they’re nonetheless a lot of fun to watch.

Umagon (19.)

Umagon Konjiki no Gash Bell anime screenshot

Konjiki no Gash Bell is a Japanese anime series.

For the longest period in the story, this unfortunate horse from Gash Bell was without a companion, finally finding someone to wield his book late in the series.

For a while, Umagon didn’t have much going for them in terms of power.

However, after his book is claimed, he becomes a useful ally to Gash and his companions.

Monokuma (nineteenth)

Monokuma in Danganronpa: The Animation

Danganronpa: The Animation is a Japanese anime series.

He’s a real jerk, but he’s also a lot of fun as a villain.

Monokuma is a recurrent character in all of the Danganronpa anime and video games.

I despise Monokuma, but I like them because I despise them.

They take great pleasure in putting pupils against one another and seeing mayhem erupt.

17. #2

#2 in Kuroko no Basuke anime

Kuroko no Basuke is a Japanese anime series.

#2 (aka Tetsuya #2) is one of my all-time favorite anime dogs.

He’s the Seirin team’s adorable little mascot, as well as the main perpetrator in the torture of Kagami, who is terrified of dogs.

#2 is a beautiful tiny dog that made me scream with delight everytime they came on the screen.

You can’t help but melt when you see his adorable blue eyes.

16. Wanpo

Wanpo from Hajime no Ippo anime

Hajime no Ippo is a Japanese anime series.

Wanpo is another mascot in this game, similar to #2 but mostly serving as a morale booster for Ippo.

Wanpo’s name is likewise a play on words (interestingly enough).

Ippo signifies one step, and Wan was chosen since it sounded like one in English.

It’s just a fun tidbit about a beautiful puppy!

Wanpo is also known for being a nuisance, having pooped on Ippo’s championship belt during his first appearance in the series.

But it’s difficult to remain angry when you’re so adorable.

15. Hawk

Hawk in The Seven Deadly Sins anime

The Seven Deadly Sins (Anime)

Hawk, the flying pig, is a really amusing addition to the already colorful ensemble of Seven Deadly Sins.

He’s Meliodas’ close friend, and he’s both cute and helpful. After a hard night of pouring drinks, he always helps clean up the bar.

Despite the fact that he just seems to be a pig, he has a few mysteries hidden under the surface.

He’s also one of the few pigs in anime that isn’t simply a farm animal.

14. Happy

Happy from Fairy Tail anime

Fairy Tail is a Japanese animated television series.

At this time in anime, Happy is unquestionably an icon.

He’s Natsu’s closest buddy, and he’s known him since the beginning of the story.

Natsu is helped by Happy’s ability to fly, which allows him to avoid motion sickness while riding in Happy’s car.

Even though Happy lacks the strength of some of the Fairy Tail guild’s other Wizards, he provides an important service to his closest friend.

13. Guts

Guts Kill la Kill anime screenshot

Kill la Kill is a Japanese anime series.

This rambunctious little dog is a true icon.

His name reveals how big of a slugger he is.

Guts is Mako’s dog, and he has limitless enthusiasm for whatever he does, much like the rest of Mako’s family.

He doesn’t appear to be able to speak, but he does seem to be able to pronounce his name. As if it were a Pokémon.

whiiiich, whiiiich, whiiiich, whiiiich

12. Eevee

Eevee from Pokémon anime

Pokémon: The Animated Series

Eevee! In the whole series, this is my favorite mascot figure.

I’m sorry, Pikachu, but I still adore you! But Eevee has had a special place in my heart since I was a child.

With so many Eeveelutions to choose from, this little guy is undoubtedly one of the most adaptable and fascinating Pokémon available.

Vaporeon and Umbreon are my particular faves, but I can’t help but like everything Eevee-related!

Tokoyami (No. 11)

Tokoyami in My Hero Academia anime

My Hero Academia is an anime series based on the manga My Hero Academia.

This isn’t exactly an animal, but it’s close. However, one glance at his skull explains why he’s on this list.

Tokoyami is one of my favorite class 1-A members.

He talks in a polite and gentle manner, as if he were a gallant knight, while possessing one of the show’s most deadly and possibly self-destructive abilities.

But one of the major reasons I like this bird-man is his willingness to help Deku, especially during the season 2 competition.

10. Meow

Meow Space Dandy anime screenshot

Space Dandy is a Japanese anime series.

Meow is officially an extraterrestrial, not a normal cat, being one of the main cast members of Space Dandy.

However, he’s fair game based on design and the numerous parallels.

He’s lethargic and doesn’t like participating in the high-intensity performances that the rest of the team performs, preferring instead to play video games and relax most of the time.

And, if you ask him, he’ll tell you that he’s crucial to the team, and that without him, they’d virtually come apart.

What’s more, to be honest? He’s pretty much everything you’d expect from an egotistical jerk.

Despite his numerous flaws, he’s amusing and represents some of the negative traits that some of us may be ashamed to acknowledge we possess.

9. Iggy

Iggy from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders (anime)

This list includes the snarky canine himself.

Iggy is a late arrival to the Stardust Crusaders who has had a rocky relationship with the rest of the group for quite some time.

His continuous lethargy and intransigence creates some annoyance among his human coworkers.

Despite this, he shows to be very helpful.

He is not only helpful, but he also extended on the concept of animals having standing, which had only been shown once before his arrival with the Monkey ship.

8. Appa

Appa in Avatar: The Last Airbender anime

Avatar: The Last Airbender (anime)

Whether or not you believe Avatar to be an anime is a contentious and divisive subject.

But it’s difficult not to mention Appa when it comes to animated animals.

For the bulk of the program, this huge oaf is the only reason why Team Avatar was able to travel across the globe so efficiently.

You know you’ve got a wonderful animal friend when an animal buddy goes missing and you and your team start to miss their presence and pray for their safety.

7. Totoro

Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro

Anime: Totoro, My Neighbor

While Totoro is a spirit, he is an animal spirit, according to Miyazaki.

As a result, he certainly belongs on this list.

Totoro is no slouch when it comes to iconography.

Since his debut, he’s been one of Studio Ghibli’s top poster children.

It’s difficult not to like the huge man.

And, to be honest, the movie’s recollections bring a grin to my face on a regular basis.

6. Yuki & Ame

Ame & Yuki in Wolf Children anime

Wolf Children is an anime series.

These two youngsters, as a hybrid choice, remind me of werewolves in certain ways.

They may take on human or wolf forms.

They are, however, a real pain in the neck, regardless of whatever shape they are in.

Despite their mischief, they’re still some of anime’s prettiest kids – and some of the finest animals as well.

By the way, I strongly advise you to read Wolf Children. I don’t think there are enough people talking about it, and it’s a total joy.

5. Ein

Ein from Cowboy Bebop anime

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese anime series.

Ein is the Bebop’s resident dog, and when it comes to screen time, they’re mainly devoted to Ed.

There are several moments when Ein is alone and relaxing. However, it’s obvious that they’re the closest.

I had to place Ein at the top since he is one of the original adorable dogs in anime.

It’s essential to recognize your origins, as much as I like #2 and Wanpo.

And it’s difficult to beat the original in this instance.

Plus, how can you not smile from ear to ear when you see that moment when he simply jumps away?

Fenneko is number four.

Fenneko Aggretsuko anime screenshot

Aggretsuko is a Japanese anime series.

If I include Puar and Happy, I have no reservations with include Fenneko on this list.

And, to be honest, this feisty fox is my favorite show character.

She’s famous in every scene she’s in, always talking about her overabundance of social media addiction while attempting to minimize it.

Yes, Fenneko, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,

But, above all, she’s extremely relatable.

And if she falls for anything, she falls hard for it – even if she first argues that it is ridiculous.

3. Luna

Luna in Sailor Moon anime

Sailor Moon is a Japanese anime series.

Luna isn’t simply a beautiful little kitten that, for the longest time, I thought was just black (yet just recently realized she was purple, thanks colorblindness).

No, this feline is also a great adviser.

She’s crucial to the show’s overall plot since she’s the one who basically gave Usagi her abilities in the first place. And undoubtedly one of anime’s most well-known cats.

She is Usagi’s adviser for the most of the series, and she usually does a decent job of keeping her safe when she can.

Plus, one glance at the moon on her brow tells you precisely what kind of cat you’re looking at.

When it comes to iconography, she has one of the most beautiful designs.

2. Panda

Panda from Jujutsu Kaisen anime

Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese anime series.

Panda is doing well… Mostly a Panda.

This fighter’s ultimate unit is absolutely lethal in a battle — and acts as much more than simply a show’s companion or mascot.

Panda is one of the few animals in his class that gets involved in the battle and really stands out, both physically and figuratively, since he is very tall in comparison to the rest of his class.

And he’s got a lot going for him.

He’s analytical and foresighted, constantly attempting to remain one step ahead of his adversary.

Tony-Tony Chopper is number one.

Tony-Tony Chopper in One Piece anime

One Piece is a popular anime series.

Tony-Tony Chopper is, without a doubt, the most famous animal in anime.

The Straw Hat Pirates’ brilliant (and funny) reindeer doctor.

Though many refer to him as a raccoon-dog, his numerous talents to shapeshift into many forms highlight his reindeer nature.

He’s also a fighter, and a very good one at that.

He may further amp up his skills by consuming little sweets that help him draw out the powers of his demon fruit.

These forms may range from appearing like a regular reindeer to being chubby and doing martial arts, and even turning him into a kaiju-sized monster.

Chopper is not only cute, but he’s also an important part of the team that makes sure that all of the fools remain alive when they get themselves into such ridiculous situations.

And, although his post-timeskip appearance is debatable, it is probably one of the prettiest character designs I’ve ever seen.
